Innovative solutions for flood risk resilient urban planning and design
Innovative solutions for flood risk resilient urban planning and design
Chair: Nicolas Bauduceau (CEPRI)
Urban resilience is more and more considered as a way to cope with the challenge of flood disasters.
The session aims to (1) highlight opportunities and obstacles of resilient urban planning and design (2) close the gap between hydraulic engineers and city planners. The session will be address two different issues :
- Global management concept : how to more concretely specify what « resilient cities » actually means, from social acceptance, economical aspects, technical solutions…based on an urban development under flood risk pressure. Illustration from different cases : French architectural “Grand Prix”, the Amsterdam study case and the Vitry sur Seine project
- How to perform a risk based approach in urban planning ? Illustrating by the examples of software demonstrations of Deltares
